ACOs NEEDED TO RESCUE KATRINA'S ANIMAL VICTIMS!

5 September, 2005

We urgently need animal control officers from all over the state to report in to LACA as soon as possible if they can assist, even for a few days, in the animal rescue efforts in the areas affected by Hurricane Katrina.

Please report in to LACA's new cell phone number, which will be operating 24 hours a day during this crisis.

225-772-3394

We need members to report in immediately! The LASPCA workers are exhausted from their efforts in horrific conditions in the afected areas.

We also needs shelters to report in with a head count of any animals they are taking in from the affected areas!

President

I am a veterinary technician and dog trainer with 20 years experience. I have worked extensively with emergency veterinary medicine and have experience with a wide variety of species (lab animals to farm animals to pets). I have had rabies shots (along with hep B and tetanus) and want to help. I am proficient in almost any medical technique and can certainly walk dogs and clean up with the best of them.

I am available to leave immediately and can stay for at least 2 weeks.
please let me know what I need to do.
If you want me to drive down, I am working on getting a truck and can fill it with crates, dog/cat food, water bowls, newspaper, etc. I have many rescue contacts and they have come forward with offers of donations, so please advise.

I have tried to email to the 'EmergencyVMO@aphis.usda.gov' but it gets bounced back.
Please let me know if I came down that I could get through to you and be useful.

Thanks!

I would like to come and help with rescuing and helping the animal victims of Katrina. I currently volunteer with the Silicon Valley Humane Society as a dog socializer and foster mom to puppies and kittens. I have a lot of experience and training in working with animals and I would really like to help.

I also have a lot of skills including photography (professional photographer by profession), legal skills, former camp cook (can cook for large groups), and teaching experience. I am very good with children and animals. I used to have the Red Cross CPR and First Aid certs as well as WSI, but those are expired.

Please contact me at 650-852-9623 or via email at timecaptured@gmail.com.

Thanks much for helping with the animals!

Hello, my husband and I have over 20 years experience in animal rescue and placement. We currently have 6 dogs and several cats. We have specialized in hard to place pets. We are willing to come and assist. We understand that we would probably need to be paired with an animal control officer or another professional, but we have small boat and would be willing to head down to help with the evacuation of the pets. We are both college graduates and are trainable. With our life experience we believe we would be able to give assistance. Please let us know if you would like us to pack and travel.

Humane Society of United States (www.hsus.org) has an application for volunteers of all kinds. However, they ask for a minnimum 5 day committment. Plus, there is a large list of what you would be responsible for AND some information on what demands on your emotional and physical well being may be.

First hand accounts from Gonzales, LA indicate that rescued dogs are coming in faster than can be cared for. I've also been told of "bags" of dead dogs lying around.

Efforts to reunite most animals with their owners will become futile as most owners are located in another state and without contact info.

THESE ANIMALS NEED TO BE RESCUED NOW!!!

Local officials are refusing to allow animals to be brought to outside animal shelters for immediate adoption. This is short-sighted.

Why hasn't a nationwide immediate adoption program been initiated for these animals?

I just wanted to say God Bless all of you in your efforts to help all Gods creatures that may be forgotten about in this time of great need.

Monday 9/12

More info from Gonzales:

1. Security in the staging area is extremely lacking. Dogs, especially pit bull puppies, are being stolen.

2. A health agency has threatened to close down camping areas used by volunteers.

3. The National Guard refused to let a vet treat a dying dog at the entrance to the staging area yesterday. The media was brought in to show this.

4. Volunteers are consistently working 12-18 hour days cleaning cages and giving dogs a few minutes of attention each day.

I still argue that these dogs should be transported to outlying local shelters for immediate adoption. Many will otherwise perish while waiting for attempts to locate their out-of-state owners.

Thanks to you all for your posts. We are still trying to contact many of the people who left comments here and who reached us by phone. We literally had thousands of phone calls and I have had little time to update this blog.

If you have not been contacted yet, please don't think we don't appreciate your volunteering and willingness to help. As time goes by there is an ongoing need for people to help; I hope to be able to contact everyone who has volunteered by early next week(by the 20th).

Please be aware that the policies on adoption of animals re being developed as this thing progresses. We need to allow a reasonable amount of time for displaced people to be reunited with their pets, but not too long...for the animals' sake.

Everything about horse betting

Despite all the cries of gloom and doom that have been ongoing since the unfortunate decision in the fifties to reject television's offer to broadcast horse racing nationally, the sport has continued to grow. Second only to baseball in overall popularity, horse racing enjoyed 11 straight years of increasing handle (total amount of pooled wagers) before this bemoaned 0.5% decrease. According to Mr. Finley, "an ominous sign of things to come."
the derby bet
Horse racing is one of the world's oldest sports. It is followed world wide with ardor and passion. The aspect of betting, adds a flavor to the races and people are turned into millionaires over night. Money flows in and out of hands in this sport making it exciting and thrilling at most times.

Another significant aspect is the shortness of time between races. Most stakes graded horses of today run with 30 to 60 days off between races, but Triple Crown contenders must run 3 grueling races within the span of 35 days. Notably Sir Barton, the first Triple Crown winner, won the Preakness only 4 days after winning the Kentucky Derby while today's challengers do have 14 days between the two races.

horse bet
Barbaro with Edgar Prado on board has won all 6 of his lifetime starts, 4 of his wins in 2006 and all at distances of a mile or more (his first 3 races were on the turf). Barbaro will be the odds on favorite for the Preakness. Gone are the double digit returns when we picked him for the Derby so most of us are left looking for horses to combine him with for the exacta, trifecta and superfecta wagers. Even though we want to see him win, at the probable scant return for a win, one must look to see if there's a horse in the field that can best him.

1.) Some game sites post information about the number of players currently playing at a particular game of bingo. Accordingly, you have to plan the number of bingo cards in your online bingo game. More numbers of cards yield better results when the number of players is low. Your winning percentage is then higher.
bingo play bingo You have to mark all numbers in any given pattern or combination like diagonal, vertical, horizontal or a total blackout by marking all numbers in your card. The game stops as soon as any single player calls out 'bingo' after completing any particular combination or pattern. Thereafter, a new game ensues.
bingo
If you do not know anyone who uses the gaming sites or you want some additional reinforcement your first port of call should be an online bingo community. By reading reviews by other people who use the Bingo sites, you will be able to get a feel for the different sites that exist and make a more qualified decision about which one you would like to use. The knowledge concerning different sites and what other users consider important about them is an invaluable tool for the new online Bingo player. Whether it is for fun or for money, there needs to be an element of integrity within the site and a potential for the player to win the game. The knowledge of other users concerning specific sites will tell the new online Bingo player whether the site is for real or is just masquerading in order to harvest the players email addresses in order to bombard them with spam, or worse con them out of their hard earned cash. This can all be avoided with research and trying before you buy, as mentioned earlier the best places to scope out bingo sites is by using a review site or Bingo members forum.
bingo online
Your aim would be to cover the prescribed pattern with the bingo letters, by coordinating the letters and numbers called. The patterns can be anything like, u shape, t shape, etc, though it usually is horizontal or vertical. As soon as you get the pattern, you should shout bingo and you get the prize. In case there are others who shouted at the same time as you, the prize will be shared among all winners.
